I Came to Say Goodbye

This story told through the eyes of Med and in a letter form sayy emotional and thought provoking. I loved that it was written in letter format, underlining the power of parental love and the battle to keep family together. Just a small issue, but still a great read.

Every now and then you read a book where everything works for you. I borrowed this book from the library, and someone who had read it before me had circled the many typos – this book is littered with them.

A very powerful story, cleverly told, full acme complex, difficult issues and emotional tugs. You’ll enjoy it, absorb it, and learn from it. The story is a downward spiral for its characters, and not exactly cheery, but it keeps hooking you in.

The novel is told predominantly from the point of view of Med Atley, a man in his late 50s. It brought to life the love that Med had for his children and grandchildren, cafoline the human condition of imperfection and making mistakes.

Overington displays great skill in the creation of the character of Med. It smashed my heart, wadded it up, stomped on it, tore it in pieces, and put the pieces back together, scattered them again, and on and on. I Came to Say Goodbye by Caroline Overington is a work of fiction however there are so many elements of the story that are chillingly familiar that you could well be reading a true ovetington book.

Slowly the reader is able to put parts of the jigsaw into place. Nov 02, Sean Harding rated it it was ok. Having said that it was a brilliant analysis of the “system” if it can be believed considering the lack of res ok I’m going to say right off that I loved this book!

A great story, easy to read, and informative about Australian government regulations towards parents who are not competent to look after their own kids. Her first novel, Ghost Child, is about a child murdered by his parents.

I enjoy reading your comments! He tells us how frustrating such a name is for him but it doesn’t stop him from nick naming his chubby daughter “Fat”. Med is a bush Australian man, not overly educated, worked hard to bring home the money for his family, give his wife everything that she wanted and stepped in as mother and father when she took off.

Nothing disappoints me about this author’s work. It isn’t apparent from the start what Court case is happening, but it is clearly something to caeoline with the kidnapped baby.

I Came to Say Goodbye by Caroline Overington – Sam Still Reading

This book makes for a great airport novel, but this is not high literature, nor is Caroline Overington anything close to the calibre of Jodi Picoult, whom she is often compared to.

Donna-Faye is not a well girl, not well at all, and Med is trying to explain why. It is set in the Family Court, and it is about a couple’s war over custody of their two year old daughter, Matilda. Part Two is written by one of Med’s daughters, Kat, as she picks up a specific part of the tale before returning to Med.

It covers so many important subjects with honesty. The book was frustrating and ultimately caje nowhere – I had hopes for camme and was sadly let down.

Its a very compelling read. That left Med and Fat at home together and when Fat was just 15 she was starting to come home later, sneak out. Nov 11, MaryG2E rated it it was amazing Shelves: To say I enjoyed this book would be the wrong word because of the topics that are covered throughout this book, but what I can say is it is definitely well worth reading.

I received a free copy of this book oveeington return for this honest review. This is a most outstanding book.

There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have overinghon it, either on ovefington internet or the news.

The majority of the story is told from the perspective of Med, father to Kat, Bluey and Donna-Faye affectionately known as Fat. Learn how your comment data is processed. Even though it’s fictional, the story could indeed be real.
