Elitism is the sickness of us all. This book is the written version of Vanier’s lecture at Harvard, in which he challenged his hearers to move away from the self-serving, self-seeking, self-promoting individualism that is so normal to us that it takes reading a book like this to show how unlike Jesus we really are. The transcript was published in by Paulist Press.
My experience has shown that when we welcome people from this world of anguish, brokenness and depression, and when they gradually discover that they are wanted, and loved as they are, and that they have a place, then we witnessed a real transformation — I would even say resurrection.
